OUR VISION

Our aim is to unite and support aspiring surgeons across Australasia and create a community for collaboration around a shared passion for surgery.

OUR PURPOSE

PASSION

Help surgically orientated junior doctors and students explore their own unique interests in surgery and meet like-minded colleagues who share similar passions.

ADVOCACY

Represent the interests of aspiring surgeons from medical students to unaccredited registrars, who are not yet participating in Surgical Education and Training (SET). This includes a commitment to ensure the wellbeing of all doctors and that all aspiring surgeons are treated with respect.

DEVELOPMENT

Provide in-person events and online learning opportunities to enhance academic knowledge, GSSE preparation, surgical skills, research skills and familiarity with newly emerging practices.

SUPPORT

Facilitate the creation of a community of surgically-minded pre-vocational health professionals to support and assist one another via forums, mentorship, webinars, and other means. Ongoing academic and/or social occasions will also provide the chance to connect and enjoy the company of colleagues.

COLLABORATION

Create a network of aspiring surgeons alongside established surgeons to promote collaborative research projects, build study networks, foster mentor and mentee relationships, and share ongoing advances in surgical care.

WHY PVASS

Providing a link… PVASS hopes to support junior health professionals as they transition from medical school into the medical workforce and throughout their prevocational years until their application to the RACS Surgical Education and Training (SET) program.
